Every moment is in itself a timeless reality; etched into the eternal universe. Yet so much of it raced by without my noticing.

Growing up in the high-pressure, academically-driven, male-dominated, 1980s Taiwan, facing racial prejudice for my mixed aboriginal ethnicity, I felt no choice but to prove my worth was equal to or better than my male cousins of pure Mandarin heritage.

I excelled among my classmates, went to US for college, graduated from USC, thrived in my career in IT, became a proud citizen, began a family, bought a house in LA, and then I was confronted by mortality.

In that moment, I realized that tomorrow is not a promise, and that my achievements meant nothing if I missed the precious moments of life. I also realized that so much of life is an intersection of outward and inward worlds, that are beautifully intertwined.

In "Timelessness" my young son's and aging father's inner and outer worlds intersect in one moment that can never be erased by age, illness, death or time.

Underneath our superficial exteriors, we are all the same color and sharing the same substance. All the labels in this plastic world won’t change what’s in a person. Each of us is equally important and unimportant at the same time despite of our exterior differences.

Sometimes we let our business, troubles and goals take us away from living. But if we just take a moment to embrace nature which human cannot recreate or replace, we feel our presence.

Meditation comes in many forms. While this dog is embracing itself in the enlightenment of nature (sunshine, ocean, flowers), all it could think deeply of is its craving "umm bacon, I smell it, taste it and feel it".

Eating disorder caused by warped self-image. This skinny-bone is constantly trying to throw up what she sees in herself.

Hunger for having reality matches the ideal image in one's mind could be an endless hide and seek.

"Home is where love ones stick together through thick and thin, rain or shine. They don't have to match, nor from the same blood line, nor having same skin color, nor with a recognized gender and neither from the same species. We are all a bag of bones underneath anyway. 

A home is where you and love ones share a shelter, food, water and a journey called life."

People like me capture a different story through canvas.

This painting "Home" was inspired by my own view of embracing our differences, and seeing our specie as it is "a bag of bones".

Underneath our appearances we share the same color of substances. We can co-exist beautifully if we don't let the superficials fixate our perception of one another.

Human and Nature were born of the same root, why in hurry committing self-homicide?

I borrowed the nature of a double-headed snake, one head always has tendency to attack another. But little does it know if one head dies, the whole snake dies with it.

Hurting our planet is hurting ourselves.

Life starts off looking like a cupcake and ends up like a piece of wrapper. Circle of life, a person comes from dust and returns as dust.... 

The human starts out the journey with much delight, but as we move along through life we accumulate much emotional and physical burdens.

As we reach our middle age, we give our best BIG foot in the future and a small one still lingering in the past. We're crossing over into a new developmental stage that isn't quite as promising as our youth.

As we get old, we fear moving forward instead we are trying to walk back toward to our younger selves. 

At the final stage, we're back to the ground and nourishing a tree.

This was a commissioned piece, but I changed the girl from sitting in a lifeless swimming pool to a little pond surrounded by swimming koi fishes.

This was my friend from college, life had cut too short on her. I was there on the day before she left this world........the last image of her had a profound effect on me.

I walked away knowing I had to do something to remember her differently. I understand we have pictures to remember her past, but her story could not end here......it has to continue.

A picture speaks a thousand words, so here we are a picture of her new life.
